Attention: To whom it may concern

I am a 27 year old mother, and I've been a Sears customer by choice for ten years, and through those years I have always appreciated the quality, workmanship and durability of the products of Sears Canada. Recently I have had an unsatisfactory experience involving one of your products and have been given no means to rectify the situation. My sister purchased a baby stroller for my baby shower last January, 1991. When it comes to my children I always invest in the best product Sears has to offer. And this Baby stroller was the foremost product Sears had on the market and it's price, I thought, reflected that quality in the product, costing over $300.00. I started using the stroller from April/91 and by June to my surprise the top of the stroller became discoloured changing from navy blue to an off-purple. And although the stroller no longer looked attractive being a strange purple at the top and navy blue at the bottom, it still performed its immediate task adequately. It was a week ago that I was struck by a second surprise, this one far more unsettling than the first. I was out with my daughter Jennifer in the stroller and without warning, two of the wheels fell off as I was pushing the stroller, causing my baby to jolt forward and the foot rest to crack and brake. Being rather distraught fearing the safety of this product concerning other mothers and feeling rather betrayed by a product which I thought was sound, I then called Sears in Brossard (Champlain Mall) where it was purchased, and I spoke to customer service. Customer Service replied that for a one year old stroller there was nothing you could do. You also told me that the stroller was guaranteed for only three months. Surely Sears does not sell 300$ strollers intending them only to last a year.

You than gave me the number of a place to call to get the stroller fixed, but the repairs would have to come out of our own families pocket, which shocked me considering I thought I was doing your company a favour pointing out the obvious safety hazard.

I remain shocked and frustrated with the recent service I have received and consider it ludicrous that a baby stroller used by a one year old could fall apart so easily in that short period of time. In my mothers day when we used to visit Sears, a product would not only last the life of neonate, but would endure through many children. The frustration heightens at the fact that after many phone calls with Sears the problem has not been resolved. I am stuck now, without a stroller, and carrying my baby around while I try to rectify this situation. Before writing to the Gazette Probe, and phoning channel 12 "Pulse Probe", I felt it important that I try once more to make contact with your company.

Sincerely Yours,
